Being an intelligence subskill, research is an important process in the tradeskilling paradigm, but oftenly avoided in the favor of construction skill.

Importance of research

Research is important for creation of high quality weapons, as the engineer needs blueprints for construction. Research doesn't work on epic items, Jones items and Rare weapons. Research is essential, however, for creating rare weapons, because it takes a decent skill level to research rare parts.

Skill points

• Some engineers choose research as their secondary skill, though they usually concentrate on construction alone.
• It is quite common for Psi Monks to research as well.
• It is believed that the fastest way for Spies is to level as a rigger, and then LOM to research.
• There are faction jobs for research, performed in faction HQs.
