Neocron released in September 2002 is one of world's first Cyberpunk MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game). It features action-oriented combat, similar to first-person shooters in a 3D environment real time enviroment.

Neocron and its sequel Neocron 2 were developed by Reakktor, an entertainment software company based in Germany.

Neocron referred to commonly as Neocron 1, since the inception and release of Neocron 2 Beyond the Dome in December 2004, is no longer a playable game. It was run for a short time in conjunction with the Neocron 2 servers but was eventually removed as most players upgraded.

Game Story

"By the end of the third millenium, Earth has changed... Global pollution, excessive wars and a perforated atmosphere have turned the planet into an almost lifeless sphere of toxic mud. Radiation is everywhere and most animals have either gone extinct or have mutated into bizarre monstrous creatures. The remnants of mankind seek protection from the desolate, scorched world and gathered behind the protective walls of giant cities. These few mega cities became the last lights of hope, in the darkness of Earth's final dusk...”

Pay to Play

Originally a monthly subscription cost was required to play from launch to late 2008 with the initial game software purchased before you could play.

From early 2009 to mid 2012 account creation and payments were suspended and only those with accounts could access the game.

Following insolvency and eventual bankruptcy of Reakktor a small group of volunteer representatives continued to support the servers under the financing of Kirk Lenke. Brand new account setup was enabled in August 2012, Access to Neocron is no longer limited to those with existing accounts from way-back. New players who want to check out Neocron 2 and returning Neocron 1 veterans are welcome to create a new account and join the community. At the same time, Neocron 2 remains completely free of charge with no fees whatsoever. This includes the free creation of a game account and free access to being able to play.

A new Server Launch followed in September 2012 of TITAN [EU] stabalising ping issues and delivering a new fresh start economy (No transfers), with the devs working on the next patch to further prevent known issues in game things are looking promising.
