To mitigate incoming damage, players can wear protective armor pieces to aid their natural resistances from skills.
Equipping Armor
Armor have special section in RPOS accessed with F4 key by default. Equipping and taking off armor is done by dragging in and out pieces from your inventory to the window.
Armor slots and protection zones
Each armor piece protects only section of the body with exception of the underwear and Power Armor, that protects whole body. The slots from the top:
- Power Armor slot: used to equip underwear or Power Armor. Underwear increases player Athletics and Endurance, while Power Armor offer powerful offensive and defensive stats
- Helmet, protects head section
- Neck, protects head section
- Vest, protects torso section
- Belt, protects torso section
- Legs, protects legs section
- Boots, protects legs section
Amount of protection for every body section is displayed in the 'Armor Effects' window. If armor also modifies skills, its in the 'Skill Effects' window.
Appearance
Only Power Armor changes the appearance of character model. Holovests, such as Holographic Projector Suit - XY Private Eye can change your default character model to another class.
Armor requirements
Majority of conventional armor requires Strength to wear. Crahn developed special 'Shelter' and 'Spirit' series to aid PSI Monks in combat, requiring PSI instead. Spies are lacking in strength to wear conventional armor but they can protect themselves with energy field belts allowing them to reduce incoming fire while still being mobile and agile. Most underwear armor requires Strength, but there are also options for Monks (Argetiferous, Chrysotile) and Spies (Ionic Nylon).
Common armor types
Carbon
Carbon armour offers great projectile damage protection and therefore piercing and force resistance. Due to antimicrobial properties of cabon nanostructures it also offers moderate protections from toxins and therefore poison damage.
Duranium
Duranium's ability to spread and absorb energy ensure it's excellent force, piercing and energy protection.
Inquisition
Even though weapons using fire have become less popular in the past decades, they are still a considerable threat. The Inquisition armor was specially developed to protect the wearer from fire damage.
Battle
Battle armor has been designed to primarily protect the wearer against projectiles and therefore does a great job of mitigating piercing damage while offering moderate force and fire protection.
Kevlar
Compared to kevlar armor from the 21st century, modern kevlar not only protects the wearer from common low-tech projectile ammo, but also provides moderate protection from heat and poisons.
Crahn Shelter
Crahn Shelter armour is designed specifically for low to mid level monks and therefore offers protection for most scenarios the wearer may find themselves in. The weave of the armour offers great energy protection and moderate force, piercing and fire protection.
Crahn Spirit
Crahn Spirit is more prestigious class of armour worn by higher level monks who have proven their worth. Due to the more prestigious nature of the armour is has been augmented to offer great x-ray protection for venturing into the wastes. Similar to the shelter armour it's energy protection is great whilst it's force, piercing and fire protection is only moderate.
Body underwear
Unlike other armor, body underwear adds protection to the whole body. It doesn't provide stats like Power Armor, instead giving Athletics and Stamina bonus increasing player's movement speed.
Carbonsilk suit
Carbonsilk suits are composed of a form of carbonfibre, woven in a similar way as ancient silk cloth. The fibre structure provides protection against piercing damage while carbon neutralizes many toxic chemicals.
Fesilicon coat
The special mix of iron and silicon components provide the wearer of a fesilicon suit with an effective protection from direct radiation influences caused by i.e. radiation weapons.
Glass fiber suit
Modern glass fiber suits effectively protect the wearer against fire damage by providing a layer of low thermally conductive material. The weave of the fibers amd the inter-fiber bonding compound also affords some protection against force and piercing weapons.
Ionic cotton suit
Ionic cotton suits offer energy as well as x-ray protection of their fesilicon counterparts. However to achieve this some of it's physical projectile protection is reduced, therefore offering less force and piercing armour.
Ionic nylon suit
Ionic nylon suits are designed to utilise the interaction between Van Der Waal force and photons to stiffen the material when placed under considerable load. While this affords considerable piercing protection it can become less flexible to force damage. Ionic strands used within also offer energy and X-ray protection.
Krokydolith suit
Krokydolith suits are reinforced with high tech asbestos fibers that provide exceptional fire and poison damage protection at expense of flexibility.
Argentiferous lead coat
Argentiferous lead coats use silver-doped lead condensate onto a specialised cotton weave. While this means they provide little protection from regular weapons, their energy and x-ray shielding is excellent.
Chrysotile suit
Chrysotile suits provide the wearer with moderate thermal protection with a small amount of force protection. The toxic nature of Chrysotile (known in the old times as white asbestos) helps the body's natural immune system remain in a constant state of alert, meaning any new toxins to enter the body are more quickly neutralized.
Energyfield belts
Armor belts are available as different series and provide protection against the usual damage types like fire, energy, or explosive damage.
Deflector belt
It's energyfield is tuned to stop most of physical damage, therefore piercing and force.
Energy protection belt
It's energyfield is tuned to absorb energy, therefore protecting from energy weapons. It can also absorb kinetic energy to some extend providing moderate force protection.
Energyfield belt
It's a middle ground between deflector, energy, and fire protection belts, providing versatile protection but not as strong as its specialized counterparts.
Fire protection belt
It's energyfield is tuned to instantly cool any thermal substance it comes to contact with, providing excellent fire protection with moderate force protection.
Poison protection belt
It's energyfield is tuned to react with any toxic substances in the air before they reach the wearer's body. Provides excellent poison protection with moderate force protection
Acquiring armor
Starting runners can easily get very basic armor without spending any credits using Recycling. Wiremesh, Leather and Metalplate vest can save a bunch of money at the start.
Most of the shops that offer weapons also offers armor in Artifact or Perfect quality, there is no need to research and construct them. Some armor can drop from mobs, like Viper King Vest , save the constructing for them as they might be harder to come by.
