Red Terra

Red Terra is the name given to the permenant human colony on Mars, currently operated by City Admin.

History

Foundation

Red Terra was initally founded in 2113 by the government of the Federation of the Free world, building upon the earlier facility constructed by the United State of America, to act as a mining facility for a metal found only on Mars, used in the production of nuclear fusion reactors. Being located such a vast distance from earth, the colony survives the 6 hour war which wipes out the majority of humanity and almost all civillization on earth. The populace of Red Terra, observing the destruction of Earth, attempt to terraform Mars using Gabanium - this however triggers the growth of a lethal virus on Mars, and the project is abandoned. At some unknown point, lacking any source of supplies or a planet to live on, the residents of Red Terra all die.

Rediscovery

In 2636, the Psi Monk government of Neocron dispatches the resurgent humanit's first interplanetary ship to Mars. They redisocver Red Terra and learn the fate that befell the earth - previously, there had always been a question mark over what caused the transformation from Earth as described in the Ceres discs to its current belaguered state. The critial metal used in the construction of reactors is also recovered.

Red Terra 2

By 2660, the Monk government has reestablished Red Terra as Red Terra II and its primary purpouse is now communication with Irata III and the starships on their way there, rather than mining. When Lioon Reza overthrows the monk government, Red Terra falls to the control of City Admin.

Present Status

City Admin continue to operate Red Terra II as mankinds lone permenant space presence - and with the fate of Irata III currently unknown, perhaps the only establishment of manking away from earth. The control of the space facility could also give City Admin a strong strategic advantage in competetion with its enemies.
