Instance is a term used to an area that is created when someone enters a specific place like a door,cave entrance,portal. The instance is created for the player and his party and other players cannot enter it or only enter it with permission. Neocron uses only one instance zone, that of Area MC5 when starting off in game. There is no other instance zones.
