BYB Tag
Other than shits and giggles what purpose does this tag serve? Solid Rock (talk) 09:11, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- Exactly as the tag says - the location of the ByB is not to be put on wiki or anywhere on the THN. Brammers (talk) 14:58, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- But why not? Solid Rock (talk) 19:45, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- Alright, ill allow it. But only because the cult of ByB are such nice and generous people. Solid Rock (talk) 10:45, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
- Right I'm going to agree with Brammers here that all the little easter eggs, including BYB, Faction secret areas and the TG Volcano, should all have locations withheld from the wiki. The excitement that comes from finding them on your own gives the world some mystery and intrigue! (BTW welcome back Solid!). --δφ (delphi) 21:03, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
- We should still try to catalogue the easter eggs even if we don't directly give away their location. But are there really any other than than the BYB? The secret HQ's and hidden passages round the game aren't really easter eggs are they? Solid Rock (talk) 21:35, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
- Really in my opinion the secret areas for each faction are something you should only know if you're in that faction - I only discovered the FA one when Brammers took me to it! I'd like them to remain a secret for as long as possible, but including pictures from the inside which doesn't give it away would be fine (IMO) - although this is policy that we will all need to discuss --δφ (delphi) 22:05, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Discussion on Easter Egg Location
I think this is a good place to have this discussion, once we have put together our arguments I would like to see them here so they can be discussed further before becoming part of the wiki policy. I will take a neutral position relative to all the discussion so as to facilitate the debate, but in the end I will cast a vote into the decision to ratify the overall site wide policy.
The policy we have for debate is to whether we should limit the information on 'Easter Eggs' (these are classed as areas within the neocron world which hold special significance to people or are not well known) should be included within the wiki, the options to discuss are as follows:
a) Do not include any Easter Eggs at all
b) Only include information about them and no information about their location
c) Include hints towards their location, but limit it so that runners have to find it themselves
d) Include all information about it including location
Sysops and above only; please post your vote and a comment to discuss why you think this, in the end we will boil this down to two options and a vote page will be opened so that the policy can be ratified.
Please separate your vote/discussion with a single line so that discussion of each view can remain in that area.

As i was trying to say above, i am not sure that locations such as the secret faction HQ's or the hidden tunnels in outzone really classify as easter eggs. They are in world items, that is they are part of the lore. The Big Yellow Ball is a true easter egg in that it is just a weird thing the devs decided to put in.
Easter eggs should be either random, such as the BYB, or fourth wall breaking, such as the alienware ads in P1. Anything that could be classed as "in-universe" is merely an ingame secret.
Before we can decide policy on any of this we need to formalize the distinction between secrets and easter eggs. Solid Rock (talk) 06:17, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
I vote b) As I feel players should explore and ask around in game. As for secret location, (Such as secret HQ's) again b) applies best. I don't really see much distinction between Easter Eggs and secrets since the location are either known to the player or not, regardless of what faction, class the player plays. Brammers (talk) 08:54, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
- Bare in mind, however, that easter eggs are not nescesarily secret. The byb may well be the only proper easter egge that is actually hidden. Solid Rock (talk) 10:27, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
