Neocron Wiki:Video and Sound Guide
Please note: This guide is currently being worked on, and is subject to change. Feel free to comment on the talk page.
Introduction
As of the 16th December 2008, the NC-Wiki now has support for allowing users to upload video and sound clips to the wiki.
The NC-Wiki has a new plugin to embed the uploaded videos and sounds into the page. This guide is for wiki users to help them add media content to pages.
Content
Sometimes, you need to illustrate a page with a sound or a video. Here is a rough guide to what we are looking. The Sysops reserve the right to remove any files which are considered unsuitable.
What sort of files to upload
- Short videos (eg. Players fighting a mob)
- Sound samples (eg. The creepy sounds of the sewers)
Generally the video or sound should be used to help illustrate an article better.
What not to upload
- Your uber "I pwned everyone" PvP video
- Your lastest Hollywood style movie style story.
- Anything more than a minute long. (May need to think about length here)
- Anything bigger that 640x320 resolution. (Or do we stick to 320x240 - Steve?)
If you are looking for a site to host your Neocron video, we sugguest using the Neocron Video Archive
Supported file formats
Currently the NC-Wiki will only allow the following video and sound formats.
- FLV - Flash Video - See this entry on Wikipedia
- MP3 - MP3 sound files - See this entry on Wikipedia
The player does support other video and sound formats. If you need for a format to be enabled, please contact one of the NC-Wiki Sysops with your requirements.
Uploading files
To upload a file, follow these steps:-
- Ensure you are logged in.
- Click on the "Upload file" link on the left.
- Ensure your file is no bigger than 7megs in size, otherwise the server will reject your upload.

- Make a note of the uploaded filename.
