I suggest for the sane (and lawyers) amongst us that we insist that the video either has in-game (as-filmed) sound, or no sound at all. No artistic license with soundtracks (generally: starting off slow, then breaking off into some horrible heavy metal, if I know NC vids) should be permitted!

wouldn't it be better to have the movies uploaded to youtube, then linked with a plugin for that? (youtube has high quality now) --Biglines 21:19, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

  • Thing is this allows us to control the use of the plugin, also we then dont flood youtube with lots and lots of small videos of doomreapers being killed etc. - This is a good addition to the wiki, and I really hope someone (steve?) writes an article advising how to record within neocron and how to change file types so it gets used δφ (delphi) 21:30, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

I'm already thinking of getting together some clips to show off some of the various apps you can get ingame... time permitting. I think that could be quite sexy. --StevenJ 02:50, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Video Formats

I've got a rough guide together for how to convert video files from most formats to .flv using Super Converter, I just need to re-write in a less half-assed way - you know how sometimes you can't string a sentence together for shit? :p I have never used Fraps or anything similar to record anything ingame, but I know a man who has (Necpock) so I'll ask him to put something together for that aspect. Once that's up, I'll ask CMaster to take a look at it, as he will probably know a tonne of tips that I don't.

Also, with regards the resolution problem, I think 640x480 is a max for illustration - larger than that, and the article would probably be all about the video, rather than showing something - however, I can think of a time when a large resolution would be fitting - strategy for defeating Regant or the Nightmare, perhaps. I don't feel we should tell people what to do, with the filesize limitations they'd be hard pushed to load a massive file anyhow, and in the end, they'll be the person who knows what suits their video's purpose best. I do feel we shouldn't go above 512Kb/s - with audio - though.--StevenJ 02:47, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
