Early ramblings

• We really need some icons, Im going to ask Tratos nicely if he can come up with some, ideally I would like icons for the right of each box as well as some for the main images where the city coms are at the moment!
• Also what do we want in each box? Im thinking that currently what we have is ok, but we need a framework from which to work away from!

Ahh those logos from the NC fansite pack.

You may want to ask Tratos for a better NC-Wiki logo. That was a 5 minute job I did, as I was getting fed up with it asking to replace it.

News Box

Ok what I want to happen is for the news to be posted I think there should be a maximum of 5 news article in the box at anyone time, after that the news needs to be moved to the older news page. --Delphi 13:53, 10 November 2006 (GMT)

Images

Ok, i uploaded a faction logo for each faction, but i dont now how to put them inside a post... i can only Embed a link to the image... Also i dunno if there copyrighted, so ill let you show me how to insert a image. Also... im gonna go drink some more and at least act as if his 21st was a good party... Pantho 10 November 2006

• Is there some reason users cannot change the main page? I was wanting to add a link to a set of Hunting Guides.

• First of all i love the wiki it just needs a better index for people to work with
• Can you add a link to Tradeskill guides, there are already a few tradeskill pages and in fansites this is a highly used area.
• Since we want this to be a useful reference posibly replacing old fansites maybe add some databaselike links and social based links.
  • Database A place for people to link pages devoted to implants, weapons, armor, parts, junk. maybe a map secton as well.
  • Social a place people can add advertizements for guilds, pages devoted to characters, pages devoted to RP, personal fansite links, Radios, ETC. Ive already run into a few Guild advertizements placed randomly around.

• We decided that to allow individual adervertising would lead to more vandalism and the like on the wiki. If you wish to discuss this further join the discussion at here.
  • Ive added a new link to the new players for the tradeskill guides - we need to deal with the new players hub however as it now serves no purpose.

Navigation bar

If you edit the MediaWiki:Sidebar page, you can change the Navigation layout. At the moment, IMHO it's too hard to find anything. I've added the all pages for the moment as an example. --Brammers 16:47, 15 November 2006 (GMT)

Red link Purge

I for one am going to make an effort to get rid of the Red links here on the main page, All the red can mislead people to think there is minimal content. Not saying we need to build all the articles but at least start them off and tag as Expansion targets. What do you think?--Logan Ford 16:47, 7 April 2008 (BST)

Noted load lag a little on wiki however, actually often have more problems with TH.org than wiki, but I always thought that lag was due to admins working in background. --Dragonette 20:04, 4 May 2008 (BST)

Right after a little bit of testing myself, I agree it's the VOTR and Neoconicle feeds slowing things down.

What I've done is extended a caching script I use to cache the newsticker to grab the RSS feeds onto the THN server, and I've changed the Main_Page/UN page to use these local feeds instead.

The down side is these feeds will be upto 20 minutes out of date, but I think we can live with that! ;)

Hacknet

• Can we add Hacknet under the gameplay section on front page please. This is a vast area of the game and is being "lost" in the wiki. I only found it under speacial page - all pages section. Thanks in advance -- Dragonette 11:15, 13 May 2008 (BST)

* Dragonette when you add a new comment to a talk page as long as it is not on a subject already under discussion could you please add a title and put it at the bottom? I had to use the history function to find the comment! I think its a good idea to add Hacknet to the front page, especially as it is now quite a comprehensive guide on how to use hacknet and whats going on in there! Featured Media

I've bene working more on the flv video player stuff for the wiki (see apps page, for example) and just wondered... part of the problem with NC is people log in and wander around aimlessly, even when they're capped.

How about a trial replacement of Featured Media to "Things to do..." where we show off screenies, or videos, of fun exciting and sexy things to do? Juggies, CRP, Apparition killing, El Farid or the Legacy? In doing this we could maybe prompt people to do stuff, rather than sit around talking crap - a problem I know we've all had :D --StevenJ 02:22, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
