Recommended update to the deletion policy
A dozen files where deleted this morning, nothing major since they was duplicates of another file and not in use, but they didn't get flagged as {{deletion}}. I didn't think it was possible to add the {{deletion}} to the image, but you can. See the Image:Fac_fa.jpg page and it shows up nicely in the Category:Candidates_for_deletion page.
However the deletion policy isn't that clear, in it only seems to cover "articles" where it needs to cover anything in all namespaces including images and files. (Except User and User talk, since thats upto the user.) --Brammers 17:27, 5 May 2008 (BST)
Image Hotspots
Image hotspots, after you reminded me how it's done via html, I'm sure I can cook up an extension that will allow image hotspots. Been a while since I've done html hotpsots, so let me look into it and come up with a spec, and let me know of any crazy extra ideas you want added. --Brammers 20:14, 5 May 2008 (BST)
- Ok thanks for the link - I should be able to work something with that. I'll look into what Jquery can provide as well, but keep it simple for now and just do the pure html extension, then add the Jquery stuff on top. --Brammers 20:52, 5 May 2008 (BST)
- Ok done a rough spec - User:Brammers/Wiki_Map_Plugin could you have a look at it when you get a spare moment? Thanks! --Brammers 11:16, 6 May 2008 (BST)
- I think I've found a plugin that will do the work for that is very close to what I've speced out - http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ImageMap I can add the JQuery bits on top of that code. (And add the spot parameter) - you think this will be ideal as a starting point? --Brammers 17:41, 12 May 2008 (BST)
Rendering issues
Ok I've had a look at my talk page, and I think I've tracked it down to your current sig doing something to upset the parser. A little Demo (Excuse me for borrowing Logans and Your sig.)

- Right fixed the problem, it was yours and Logan's sigs. The wiki doesn't like parsing raw unicode characters, so I've changed them to the html codes. So δρ became δρ in the page; So it's all fixed, my talk page works, and so do the others! --Brammers 21:01, 7 May 2008 (BST)
Common.js
Ok, can I go through the common.js file, and take out the stuff that isn't being used, or not likely to be used. (Like most of it!) --Brammers 18:54, 12 May 2008 (BST)
- Right Common.JS is cleaned down to it's bare min now. Did this a little earlier today. --Brammers 20:38, 13 May 2008 (BST)
JQuery sexyness and Imagemap
Right, got some real basic and juicy stuff in. JQuery is now part of the NC-Wiki, and we have a page to allow us to write any custom JS functions that use JQuery MediaWiki:NCwiki.js The reason it is in that file is I can't get JQuery to load before common.js, and it's probably better in it's own file. I'll be adding the code to use the maphilight extension in there. At least this way says me having to fire up the Virtual PC and Eclipse for tweaks to the pages, and messing around with Subversion. I can also look at doing your "PM me" button on user pages as well. ;)
Also the Imagemap extension is installed, totally unaltered, although I am going to tweak it slight to work well with the JQuery maphilight plugin...which I'm going to do next once I've got a basic map working. --Brammers 20:45, 13 May 2008 (BST)
- Ok a little Demo - User:Brammers/Wiki_Map_Dev - Enjoy playing, feel free to edit the page, I'm off to watch SG1- The Ark of Truth, the DVD came today! --Brammers 21:27, 13 May 2008 (BST)
- Have a look at Test 2 on User:Brammers/Wiki_Map_Dev --Brammers 01:43, 16 May 2008 (BST)
- To answer you question, you can preview the chnages before saving, so you can see where the new map areas are and adjust if needed. Also got a few more options to add see User:Brammers/Wiki_Map_Plugin#Extra_options_to_add --Brammers 11:09, 16 May 2008 (BST)
Ok I'm done! User:Brammers/Wiki_Map_Dev#World_Map_test The Map plugin is feature complete. :) --Brammers 00:55, 17 May 2008 (BST)
Request
Delphi, you Template GURU. Could you possibly sort this page Wallpaper so it has a more friendly layout? Thanks [admin] Logan Ford • (talk)13:54, 14 May 2008 (BST)
P.s. My sig still doesn't work :( i know Bram said the issue was the space but can this be resolved or should i just keep on typing it manually? If i click i get this,->>> --[admin] Logan Ford • (talk) 13:58, 14 May 2008 (BST)
Small template change
Hi, slight issue with the orig_auth template - See Talk:Tatical_Mercenary_CPU_Mission The original source is a PM, so it can't be linked. Can the source be made optional? --Brammers 14:33, 16 May 2008 (BST)
WOOT!
OMG you fixed the Sig! Thanks, can;t tell you how much of a pain that's been lol having to type it all in each time hehh heh --[admin] Logan Ford • (talk) 08:58, 21 May 2008 (BST) Norway? Hope all is well.
Places of interest
Should be possible, and I can probably make it configurable as well for each map type as well.
Also how do you make a category hidden? --Brammers 13:58, 6 June 2008 (BST)
NFT template
Hi there, I've been looking into the squashing issues reported by Biglines. Looks like there is a issue with the {{nft}} template. Please see the Template:Nft2 my User:Brammers/Sandbox and also the Talk:EpicGuide:Tangent_Technologies page.
I've not made the fix live, as I don't know what the full purpose of the {{nft}} template is, so it's possible my solution may not be correct. --Brammers 14:20, 10 June 2008 (BST)
Downtime
Hi there, I've got no definate date in mine, as there are 2 bits of to work to complete still, like removing duplicate code in the Item DB, and also sorting out he caching layer.
If it goes well, I'm looking at doing the uppgrade on Monday in the evening. --Brammers 11:47, 19 June 2008 (BST)
The link_icon command
Hey there. I can'r remember who asked for the link_icon command, but I think it was you. :p
Currently a few users have created some excellent vendor pages...you know who they are, and what pages. However they are using 2 commands to get the data up...like
<itemdb:icon items="771" style="none"/><itemdb:link items="771"/> <itemdb:icon items="771" style="none"/><itemdb:link items="771"/>
Instead of
<itemdb:link_icon items="771"/> <itemdb:link_icon items="771"/>
The 1st version is a bit of a server resource drain, which is resolved with the new cache layer in the next release, but I do not think users should have to use 2 command to get what should be done in one command.
Now I'm thinking of changing the link_icon command to default to no resizeing of the icon, and to default to a style of none. This would look like this.
<itemdb:icon items="771" style="none"/><itemdb:link items="771"/>
However this doesn't solve the issue of background colours, this needs to be sorted out on the THN Item DB on the main THN website. All the images need changing to transparent PNG's. It's an issue that will take a short while to fix.
Now you hopefully realised this breaks backward compatibity a little bit, but I'm going to propose a new attribute - called size, where you can specify say size="max-y:20px" to give the old effect as before. My argument for doing it this way is
- Very few if any pages are using the smaller size. (I can't find any)
- The current pages on vendors are using full size icons. However you could argue that a mix of small and big icons is wrong for the layout.
I await your thoughts, and I would like to get this out for the 1.5.0 release, but if you think this need wider debate this can be pushed back. --Brammers 00:36, 21 June 2008 (BST)
Consider me pre-warned, instead of making the layout, ill keep to just making lists of item numbers, you lot can help me fix it into the proper layout then --Biglines 10:20, 21 June 2008 (BST)
Ok thanks everyone, that code change is going in very shortly. --Brammers 13:16, 21 June 2008 (BST)
Downtime date set
Ok I've set the date of the downtime for the Item DB/THN apu upgrade. It's going to be Wednesday 25th June 2008 at 20:00BST (19:00UTC) --Brammers 17:58, 21 June 2008 (BST)
Mapping project
Hey delphi, what exactly do you have in mind as what it would be I would do as a "leader" of the mapping project? I mean, I don't have anything like the time you and brammers seem to spend on the wiki, the last 2 weeks were my holiday period, and while I have some more, my gf now has holiday too so I won't be able to do nearly as much. Maybe I reacted too quickly, and probably reacted strangely as most people would gladly take the "prestige" of being a "leader", but I've had too many kinds of these for too long to do things that I can't take seriously enough. So yet again, what would be expected of me? --Biglines 12:03, 26 June 2008 (BST)
Re the above ^^ --Biglines 11:15, 27 June 2008 (BST)
Hey, i'm greatfull that you made me and Biglines leaders of the mapping project, but just like Biglines I don;t think i'm right to be a leader of the mapping project. I've yet to contribute directly to the mapping effort at all and I don't even know how to add points on the map and stuff like that. Never the less, if you feel the project desperately needs a leader, then I will. However, like Biglines, i'm unsure what this means. --Reaction 00:26, 28 June 2008 (BST)
Okay, now that neocron is down for a week or so, I'm willing to put in the effort to start mapping, although it will mostly be from memory as it's very hard to check atm ;) pending a specific task description, I don't mind being leader, although I don't see what I can do as a non-admin in the "leading" department. --Biglines 20:06, 30 June 2008 (BST)
